The Diesler Live Experience
Az angol Lancashire megyei Burnley városából származó Jonathan Radford néhány éve Diesler néven vált híressé hangminta-alapú jazzes-funkos zenéjével; első két albumát a Quantic, Bonobo vagy Nostalgia 77 zenei pályáját is elindító Tru Thoughts kiadó adta ki. Legelső, „Cotton Wool" című kislemezét is már olyan híres djk pörgették, mint Gilles Peterson, Mr. Scruff vagy Dr. Rubberfunk. Diesler harmadik nagylemeze „The Rhythm Station” címmel az idén ősszel a londoni Freestyle Recordsnál jelent meg. Jonathan djként már járt Budapesten, ez alkalommal azonban kilenctagú zenekarával érkezik a Merlinbe, amelyben a tündéri szépségű és hangú Katie Miller énekel. A zenekar 6ix Toys néven instrumentális funkot is játszik.

Hivatalos ajánló:
Japánról nem feltétlenül a jazz jut elsőként az ember eszébe, de ez alighanem rövidesen meg fog változni. Egy néhány éve alakult tokiói jazzegyüttes ugyanis szinte észrevétlenül meghódította a világot. A hírhedten eredeti japán DJ-szcénából kinőtt, hattagú SOIL & "PIMP" SESSIONS elnevezésű zenekar energikus zenéjével, felpörgetett tempójú számaival, adrenalinfűtötte élő koncertjeivel, kegyetlenül erőszakos fúvósszekciójával ma már megkerülhetetlen jelensége a nemzetközi jazzéletnek. Mélyen merítenek többek között a funk és a hip-hop hagyományából, de zenéjük rendkívül telített hangzása összetéveszthetetlen. Két nagylemezük jelent meg ezidáig, 2005 elején a „Pimp Master”, tavaly tavasszal pedig a „Pimp of the Year”. Mindkettő számos díjat besöpört, és a rendkívül pozitív kritikai visszhang mellett üzletileg is hatalmas sikernek bizonyult. Az együttes 2005 óta turnézik rendszeresen Európában, tavaly a Montreux-i Jazzfesztiválon okoztak komoly meglepetést. Budapesti fellépésük a hazai jazzélet számára akár jókora tasliként is hathat, de ha valaki csupán táncolni szeretne, az se hagyja ki a koncertjüket: fizikai képtelenség ugyanis egy helyben maradni, ha a Soil and „Pimp” Sessions zenéje szól.

Nyáron már sikerült őket megnézni Zágrábban, ahol az év koncertjét adták; remélhetőleg nálunk még egy lapáttal rátesznek majd. A Soil & "Pimp" Sessions tagjai igazi vadállatok a színpadon, egy hardcore együttes keménységével nyomják a jazzt. A megjelenés kötelező!
